Upcoming free training opportunities are being facilitated by the KY Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities for understanding the new KRS 202A law. PAs are listed in KRS 202A (Involuntary Hospitalization statute) as being one of the class of providers who can perform evaluations of adults who are directed by the judge to have an evaluation by a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) to see if the person meets the criteria for involuntary admission to one of the four state psychiatric hospitals.
These training sessions are a one-hour broad overview of the changes to the KRS 202A law (involuntary hospitalization, assisted outpatient treatment (AOT; 'Tim's Law') and the new community-based outpatient treatment (CBOT), as enacted in SB 122, for anyone who wishes to attend. Facilitated by David Susman, executive advisor, DBHDID. The training materials were developed by DBHDID and the Treatment Advocacy Center (TAC).
There are three KRS 202A new law overview sessions with identical content, so participants can choose any one of the three to attend. The sessions are:
