The Kentucky Academy of Physician Assistants is excited to report that House Bill 135 has passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 91-1
This vote comes on the heels of our 2020 KAPA Lobby Day. Over 150 PAs, students, and other supporters from across the Commonwealth came to Frankfort to meet with their legislators and talk about their practice and the importance that HB 135, modified prescriptive authority, will have to their patients and communities. Lobby Day attendees had the privilege of watching from the House gallery as Rep. Steve Sheldon gave testimony on the bill.
Rep. Sheldon, HB135’s primary sponsor said “I’m honored to speak on behalf of physician assistants today” … “There are over 200 health professional shortage areas in Kentucky and this bill will help with that.”
Now the bill moves to the Kentucky Senate to be heard in that chamber. We encourage you to take the time to call your member of the House of Representatives and thank them for voting yes on HB135.
