KAPA Establishes a PA of the Year Award to Recognize Excellence

The Kentucky Academy of Physician Assistants (KAPA) has established the KAPA PA of the Year Award to honor a physician assistant who has demonstrated exemplary service to the PA profession and the community he/she serves, while providing significant contributions to the overall healthcare of the citizens of Kentucky. Eligibility Requirements: Potential recipient must be:
  • Nominees must be a fellow or active member of KAPA in good standing
  • Nominees must be a resident of Kentucky, or currently practicing or employed in Kentucky
  • Nominees cannot currently be serving as a KAPA Board of Director or committee chair, or as an AAPA HOD representative.
The Awards Committee will consider the following criteria in selecting the KAPA PA of the Year:
  • Evidence of commitment to the PA profession – How has this person demonstrated long-term commitment to the PA profession and to KAPA during his or her career? This could include a description of volunteer service rendered to KAPA, the AAPA, or another PA organization.
  • Evidence of outreach to individual PAs, PA students, or aspiring PA students - How has this person reached out to individual PAs, PA students, or aspiring PAs? This could include examples of how he or she has been a mentor to other PAs, PA students, or pre-PA students.
  • Evidence of championing the PA cause – How has this person promoted the PA profession outside of their daily responsibilities as a PA? This could include activities in which he or she participates at the state, national, or local community level, including but not limited to activities such as mission trips, health fairs, church projects, or volunteer projects.
The deadline for nominations is October 1, 2015 and the KAPA PA of the Year recipient will be recognized at the 2015 KAPA CME Conference in November.
