Alicia Quella is the Director of Communications and PA Relations at the NCCPA. She has served as a PA Program Chair and Director
and has practiced in emergency medicine and primary care. She has served as an epidemiologist and has published research on the
PA workforce, global health and issues affecting diversity in PA program admissions. Alicia earned her Masters of PA Studies degree
and her doctoral degree in epidemiology from the University of Iowa.

Joelle is the manager of Norton Healthcare’s Pediatric SANE Program. She strives to empower professionals across disciplines to unite around a shared vision of prevention and improved care for survivors of violence through research, education, policy, and practice. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in nursing research and is a guest lecturer for Sullivan University Physician Assistant Program. Joelle was the 2022-2023 recipient of the Daisy Academic Award from the University of Louisville’s School of Nursing and designated as a 2023 Young Professional Voice Leader by the American Organization for Nurse Leaders (AONL). 

 

 

Katherine Schewe, MSPA, PA-C

 

Kate Schewe is an Assistant Professor at Sullivan University PA Program and the Course Coordinator for Women's Health, as well as an Occupational Medicine PA. She previously worked in Emergency Medicine as an ER Tech and eventually as an Emergency Medicine PA, where she saw firsthand the need for healthcare provider education on compassionate trauma-informed care for victims of sexual assault. In Kate's current role as Assistant Professor, she strives to address this need among her PA students.

Javier Morales, MD, FACP, FACE, is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine at Hofstra University and is Vice President at Advanced Internal Medicine Group in East Hills, New York. He earned his medical degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry-New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey. Dr. Morales completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, New York, and North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York, where he served as Chief Medical Resident from 1998-1999. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Jason Prevelige, DMSc, MBA, PA-C, DFAAPA, is the president and chair of the American Academy of Physician Associates. He has worked at St. Mary’s since graduating from Quinnipiac University’s PA Program with a Master of Health Sciences and PA certificate. He also has worked for Connecticut Children’s in hospital medicine, neonatology and urgent care medicine since 2110. He previously worked for Liberation Programs, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he practiced addiction medicine and psychiatry.

Representative Mike Clines is currently serving his first term as State Representative of the 68th House District, which encompasses a portion of Campbell County.  Clines received his undergraduate degree in English and teaching from Northern Kentucky University and obtained his master’s in education administration from the University of Cincinnati. Representative Clines is currently an education consultant in the Northern Kentucky Region and served as the superintendent of schools for the Diocese of Covington school system for 12 years with a combined 28 years as an educator.

Pediatric Orthopedic Injuries 

 

 

Ashton C. Ogle (AAPA Director-at-Large), DMSc, MPAS, PA-C

 

Dr. Ashton Craig Ogle, PA-C serves as Director-at-Large on the AAPA Board of Directors. Prior to joining the Board, Ogle served on the AAPA Student Board of Directors as the Northeast Regional Director and worked closely with the Connecticut Academy of Physician Associates (ConnAPA) as a student representative. Ogle began her PA career as an emergency medicine PA in Waterbury, Connecticut working for Trinity Health of New England. She also worked part-time in plastic surgery and was an adjunct instructor at her PA alma mater teaching Patient Assessment and Clinical Skills and Procedures. Recently, Ogle moved to Kentucky to be closer to family and now works for the University of Kentucky in the Chandler Emergency Department, primarily in pediatric emergency medicine.

Peter Haigh, MD, FACC

 

Dr. Peter Haigh is a non-invasive cardiologist at University of Kentucky Health. He graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine and went on to complete both his internal medicine residency and cardiovascular medicine fellowship at the University of Wisconsin. He has advanced training in nuclear cardiology, transesophageal echocardiography, and interventional echocardiography. At UK he serves as an imaging specialist on the Structural Heart Team and is a co-director of the Interventional Echocardiography program. He is also a core faculty member for both the Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship and the Internal Medicine Residency program at UK. He gives cardiovascular disease lectures to medical students, residents, and fellows as they progress through medical training.

Erin Chalmers, DMSc, MSPAS, PA-C, DFAAPA

 

Erin Chalmers is a 2008 graduate of the University of Kentucky PA Program. She completed her Doctorate of Medical Science at the University of Lynchburg in 2020. She is the Associate Program Director at the Sullivan University PA Program in Louisville. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Kentucky Academy of Physician Assistants (KAPA), the Academy of Doctoral PAs, and the Physician Assistant Education Association.  She has practiced clinically in the fields of geriatrics, pediatrics, pediatric endocrinology, family medicine, urgent care, and functional medicine.  Erin is passionate about educating the next generation of PAs, advocating for the advancement of the PA profession, participating in the growth and development of children, and practicing holistic, root-cause medicine.  She is blessed with her husband Luke and is a proud mom to Liam (7) and Elizabeth (almost 4).

Dr. Abel is the Opioid Stewardship Program Coordinator at University of Kentucky HealthCare. Prior to that she practiced as a Pain Management and Palliative Medicine Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center - James Cancer Hospital. She received her PharmD from Creighton University in Omaha, NE after which she completed a PGY-1 in Pharmacy Practice at The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC and a PGY-2 in Pain Management and Palliative Care at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. She is a past Chair of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy Pain and Palliative Care Practice and Research Network, as well as the Nominations and Advocacy Committees for the Society of Pain and Palliative Care Pharmacists (SPPCP), and a member of the Opioid Stewardship Task Force for SPPCP. Stephanie has authored primary literature and book chapters on topics such as acute pain management in opioid tolerant patients. She has also been an invited speaker for many regional and national talks as well as developed national and international education modules on topics such as opioid stewardship, pain management, palliative care, opioid use disorder, and medical marijuana to multidisciplinary audiences.

Tria Kinnard, PA-C

 

Tria has worked as a Physician Assistant (PA) in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at UK’s Kentucky Children’s Hospital for 19 years. Her work includes taking care of critically ill infants from birth through discharge. She loves making hard days a little better for patients and their families. She enjoys the fact that teamwork is such an important part of the NICU. One of her favorite parts of her profession is coming together with people from varied backgrounds to care for the tiniest and sometimes the sickest patients in the hospital.Additionally, she is the program director of the Neonatal Physician Assistant Residency, the first post-graduate training program for APPs at UK and the first of its kind in the nation. She is responsible for recruiting, hiring and educating PAs each year. She enjoys sharing her love of neonatology with new PAs and providing them with life changing opportunities. Tria is happy to share this love of caring for patients with you as well. She hopes that this information on RSV vaccines will be helpful to you and your patients.

Katie Olney, PharmD, BCIDP

 

Katie Olney is a clinical pharmacist specializing in pediatric infectious diseases at Kentucky Children's Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. She received her Pharm.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy and completed her PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL. She then completed a PGY-2 Pharmacy Practice Residency in Pediatrics followed by a PGY-3 Pharmacy Practice Residency in Infectious Diseases at UK HealthCare in Lexington, Kentucky. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Katie is also an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. She maintains board certification in Infectious Diseases Pharmacy and is a member of several professional organizations. Her practice and research areas of interest include gram-negative resistance, pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic optimization, and antimicrobial stewardship.

 

 

Joel Howard, MD

 

Dr. Joel Howard is a board-certified pediatric infectious diseases physician at Kentucky Children's in Lexington, Kentucky. He received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and completed his residency at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Emory University in Atlanta Georgia followed by fellowship training in pediatric infectious diseases at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Howard is also an assistant professor at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. His practice and research areas of interest include diagnostic stewardship, travel medicine, and antimicrobial stewardship.
